Cravings. I just can't resist them!
Yesterday night, i just stumbled across some chick-peas (kabuli channa) and the next thing i was planning was Hummus. It's my first attempt at it and honestly, it was awesome. Give it a try - it's healthy, easy to make and very very tasty!
Ingredients (the way I used):
- 1 Cup Chick Peas.
- 10 Cloves of Garlic (you could use lesser as per your preferences).
- 4 Table Spoons of Tahini paste. (My version: Blend 2-3 Tb. Spoons of Sesame Seeds, Sesame Oil, Salt and little water).
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil - About 50 Ml.
- Oregano / Chilly flakes / Salt.
- Soak the chickpeas overnight in water (4-5 hours is equally fine). Boil them in cooker, till soft. Drain the excess water (don't discard the water). Let them cool off a bit.
- Using a Blender - Blend the chickpeas, garlic, tahini, salt and about 1 Table Spoon of olive oil. Add the chickpea water as and when necessary to arrive to a creamy consistency.
- Serve your hummus in a bowl - with a slight dent in center where you can pour in the rest of olive oil. Garnish with oregano and chilly flakes.
- Preferably refrigerate the hummus for 1-2 hours before serving.
- Hummus is a versatile dip. Literally. Traditionally it's supposed to be had with Pita Bread or Falafel.
- Hummus is equally awesome with breads, bread-sticks, chips, khakhras, wafers and what not...
- Try it with slices veggies - especially carrots and cucumbers!
